RUMUNA

About RUMUNA

Rajshahi University Model United Nations Association (RUMUNA) is the first-ever Model United Nations club in North Bengal, established on October 1, 2013, by seven visionary and enthusiastic students of the University of RajshahiSince its inception, RUMUNA has been a pioneer in promoting the culture of diplomacy, debate, and international affairs in the northern region of Bangladesh. In 2015, we made history by hosting the North Bengal Model UN Conference, the first-ever regional MUN summit in the country.

Building on this success, RUMUNA introduced its flagship national conference series with RUMUN 2016, which soon became a signature event at the University of Rajshahi and MUN community in Bangladesh. To date, RUMUNA has proudly organized eight national Model United Nations conferences, bringing together delegates from across Bangladesh to debate, negotiate, and find solutions to pressing global issues.

At present, this organisation is working with more than 200 students from Rajshahi University who are attending its regular sessions, arranging Intra, Regional and National MUN conferences every year and taking part in the MUN conferences throughout the country. RUMUNA is looking forward to setting up the diplomatic and leadership skills amongst the students of this university. Since inception this organisation has been arranging weekly session, monthly mock sessions regularly to boost up the skills. RUMUNA has come up with a number of very good MUNers who have achieved several awards in different MUN conferences and some of these experienced MUNers are serving as Executive Board Members in various MUN Conferences throughout the country and beyond.

RUMUNA believes that students can embody their latent talent through participating in extracurricular activities where MUN is one of the best ways to flourish themselves properly. To keep up to date with this very fast changing world, a student should keep pace with international issues, politics, leadership skill and diplomacy. This belief reflects in the catchphrase of RUMUNA: Learn Diplomacy, Change for A Better Wo

What We Do?

RUMUNA MUN is a new format of debate practice in the present time, where students debate according to UN rules and regulations. Generally, every student attends a conference as a shadow delegate on the global problematic issue. These three days they will discuss, debate, and negotiate with each other, and finally, they will make a fruit solution paper that will be helpful for the world to keep peace and progress. Model United Nations is a great opportunity for students to develop strong leadership skills, public speaking, research and writing skills, conflict resolution, and cooperation. Students will meet new people from other schools/Universities, which allows them to network, build connections, and make new friends.

RUMUNA has been working relentlessly from the very beginning of its foundation to spread the MUN culture everywhere, especially in the northern region of Bangladesh. After arranging the first-ever regional MUN Summit throughout the country named, North Bengal Model United Nations 2015 (NBMUN) with utmost success it presented other MUN conferences in the following years nominating respectively as RUMUN16, RUMUN17 & RUMUN18, RUMUN19, RUMUN20, Intra SilkCity Conclave 2022, RUMUN22, NBMUN 2023.
